Hey, cherrie. Each student got a picture of an animal, plant or action that can affect our ecosystem. One person started with the yarn, then threw the yarn to a person with an animael or plant, etc. that they would eat or get eaten by, etc. so that if continued we'd have a huge web of linked aspects, creating an ecosystem. Then something else is introduced, such as an oil spill. When an oil spill occurs those who are directly affect (via a link in the web) drop their part of the yarn, and continuously until everyone loses their yarn. There must be a great deal of discussion to make this a successful activity and it works well for those who don't understand the idea of an ecosystem all that well.
